West coast servers wow
On East Coast and playing on West Coast server? My friends are on a PST server -- I'm on East Coast. Ping difference is ~40 on East and ~80 on West. Should this concern me? Anything roughly under 100 is good enough for WoW for most people. It would personally bother me to see my ping above 80 on a consistent basis but that is me being picky.I play wow with childhood friends from the west coast of America so we're trying to find a middle ground to play on; from my understanding, NA and EU servers cannot play together. I very well may transfer over in the future but as I just relocated to the EU very recently I am willing to give an American east coast server an chance.Currently on Stormrage (Ally) but am going to be relocating for my job to west coast and (almost) none of the guild on my server are raiding during times I can make since they are east coast based. If you're on windows, press win key, type in "cmd", press enter, type "ping 24.105.62.129" in the cmd window, it'll show you what ping you'll get to EST servers. I mean, I personally think it's fine, but I'm also not some leet pvper that wants the absolute lowest latency. I played with NA ping on servers hosted in France and I didn't really mind.I've played on both coasts, a 20ms ping difference isn't even noticeable, and especially when that server or time zone is the only option, the entire playerbase adjusts their raid times to that.It's fairly common for larger servers to have raid times starting between 4:30pm EDT/1:30pm PDT all the way through 3am EDT/midnight PDT.Firemaw from east coast US is usually around 90 for me. Haven’t logged onto west coast servers in a while, but I remember them being around 45. I think the longest physical distance I’ve done was Hawaii to us east servers on tbc launch. I don’t remember numbers but it was completely playable.

For what i calculated here, if you’re in Edmond it’s around 2.5k km to Chicago while to LA it’s 3.2k km. So it does really makes a difference. The west coast servers are in LA, the east cost in Chicago.
