One of my favorite 2e characters was a high level gnome bard with Captivator. It's very good against the right type of encounters - but instantly worthless against anything mindless or with very high will. Super flavorful though - and closest we have to a 1e mentalist for now. Sorcerer/Bard Dedication is always great. Get all the buff spells. Champion Dedication is good on any class, but Thaum gets to absolutely wreck people with Retributive Strike. Strength.
