T3X Varmint trigger is single-stage. T3X TAC-A1 is two-stage. Pull weights are otherwise pretty close. Otherwise actions are identical, other than the TC A1 puts a little plastic ball on the regular nubby little T3X bolt handle to make it more "tactical." WKR. The Christensen is a “nicer” rifle than the Kimber Hunter, IMO. I like metal trigger guards and the magazine on the Kimber doesn’t do anything for me. If the Kimber were a Montana, maybe a different story. Personally, I like 700 clones because of the aftermarket support. Let’s me tweak things a little, if need be.If you are looking for the former and care less about the price/bragability, I would suggest you take a look at the Tikka T3x rifles. I normally shoot an AI AT with either a .308 and .260 Rem barrel and loves the rifle. Recently I wanted a trainer in .223 and ended up buying a Tikka T3x .223 Varmint.Comes with a better trigger. Once again, Tikka has a great trigger, but not better than TT. MPA uses AICS mags which are superior and easier to replace than CTR mags (which the Tac A1 uses) All of that to say they are both really good … ….

They offer a model with the same type of specs as the Tikka in the same price range. Masterpiece Arms makes one that fits my needs, but that's in the low $3k area, a little out of my range. I have heard good things about them though. Edit: also found the Armalite AR31, meets all the wants, but has an 18 inch barrel.The tikka is better over all. You can get a full howa set up for under 300. A base tikka will run 500-600. I don’t think the tikka is 2x as good as howa but not everything in life is linear, you pay more of a premium for better stuff.
